Skills in Torment: Tides of Numenera reflect a character's knowledge and physical aptitude, and provide passive bonuses. They are distinct from abilities which can also be activated.

Ability and inability Edit

Characters will naturally have more or less of a proficiency in certain skills, depending on their descriptor. For example, a graceful character might be very good at the Quick Finger skill, but have an inability when it comes to Smashing objects.

Exploration skills Edit

Exploration skills provide bonuses that are useful in many situations, from conversations, problem-solving, to inventory management.

Concentration Mitigates penalties for equipped Bonded Artifacts. One Bonded Artifact slot is locked.
Cypher Use +2 Cypher Limit for each level of training -1 Cypher Limit
Deception +15% bonus per level on tasks marked by this skill -15% penalty on tasks marked by this skill
Endurance +5 Health per level -2 Health
Healing +5 bonus points per level healed when any healing ability or item is used -2 penalty to healing
Intimidation +15% bonus per level on tasks marked by this skill -15% penalty on tasks marked by this skill
Lore: Machinery +15% bonus per level on tasks marked by this skill -15% penalty on tasks marked by this skill
Lore: Mystical +15% bonus per level on tasks marked by this skill -15% penalty on tasks marked by this skill
Lore: Natural +15% bonus per level on tasks marked by this skill -15% penalty on tasks marked by this skill
Perception Unlocks conversation options and +15% bonus per level on tasks marked by this skill -15% penalty on tasks marked by this skill
Persuation +15% bonus per level on tasks marked by this skill -15% penalty on tasks marked by this skill
Quick Fingers +15% bonus per level on tasks marked by this skill -15% penalty on tasks requiring this skill
Running Bonus to movement distance each Crises turn Reduces movement each Crises turn
Smashing +15% bonus per level on tasks marked by this skill -15% penalty on tasks marked by this skill
Stealth +15% bonus per level on uses of the Hide ability during Crises -15% penalty on uses of Hide

Note that "per level" in this context refers to the skill's training level, not the character level which is called a "Tier" in Torment: Tides of Numenera.

Weapon skills Edit

Weapon skills are only really useful during crises. They are only trainable by characters of the glaive class, although other things like descriptors can allow jacks and even nanos to have a certain amount of these proficiencies.

Melee Weapons +15% bonus per level on attacks with Melee Weapons -15% penalty on attacks with Melee Weapons
Ranged Weapons +15% bonus per level on attacks with Ranged Weapons -15% penalty on attacks with Ranged Weapons

Note that "per level" in this context refers to the skill's training level, not the character level which is called a "Tier" in Torment: Tides of Numenera.
